While I was exploring my neighborhood, I caught a glimpse of some awesome Asian artwork...
Then, on my way back to the dorm, I stopped off at the Starbucks at the corner (who BTW got my drink wrong...) I didn't want to complain 'cause there was a line of peeps behind me... How hard is it to get Grande Iced Tazo Black Tea w/ Raspberry Syrup wrong??!!??
Anyhoots, I at least took the opportunity to snap a pic of the street sign...
Yes, that's my street, East 3rd Street. And NO, that is so not my dorm in the background! Yikes!!

Shout Outs!!
My mom is the master of bargaining... However, I need not be in the store when she's in action 'cause I get all shame... But KUDOs!! to her 'cause the force is strong with that one!!
While shopping in chinatown on the infamous Canal Street (which I am told you can purchase some really authentic-looking designer handbags), I saw this shirt...
So, for my first SHOUT OUT! - I send it to my boyfriend, Lui, who often uses this phrase.
"YOLO! Babe!!" - Trying to live it up 'cause you truly only live once!!
My next SHOUT OUT! - I send it to Heidi... I texted her with this pic and the caption, "Calm down... It's only the biggest LV I've ever seen..."
Personally, I don't think it's that big... (Heehee!)

Let's Start From the Beginning...
I arrived in NYC on August 21, 2012. For a whole week my dad, mom, and I started getting me settled to live in NYC...
This is my mom chillaxin' in my new dorm room... Unfurnished of course!
Oh! Did I mention that this is my next door neighbor(s)....??
Then my law school Chicas were town, so naturally we had a Girls Nite Out on the town... Tiff, Mari, and I had pizza, Nutella-tinis (yum!), and went to Rockefeller Center to the Top of the Rock... This is the view!!
On my first day of school, I experienced NYC in the rain... Mucho Mahalos to Joy for the advice to always keep a small umbrella handy!! I saw some girl walking down the street in a black garbage bag! Gotta keep dry!!

Homesickness :(
I was born, raised, and educated in Honolulu, Hawaii. Needless to say, this is my first time to live anywhere else. And of all the places in the world I could choose to live, I chose the Big Apple - New York City...
The people are very different here. I stopped smiling at peeps on the street because when I did I got weird looks. My friend Tiff told me, while riding the subway, to refrain from making eye-contact. This was sound advice. But, apart from the culture-shock and some getting-used-to, it isn't too bad living here. (Although, I am saying this after living here for merely a week... You should definitely check back a few weeks after this posting!!)
I also had my first feeling of homesickness, which, I'm told, is a rite of passage for many college kids. My heart broke when my parents left me the Sunday before school started. I finally felt, "This is it. I'm totally on my own now." My friend Heidi told me that she felt that way for at least 2 months. My sister Toni told me she felt the same way when she went off to college. But she also reminded me that she was looking at being away for 4 years or more. Me, on the other hand, am only looking at less than 4 months. Boo-Hoo for me, right?? (Whatever!! Homesickness still stings no matter the duration!!)
Well, that's it for my first post :) Time to be studious!
P.S. Big Shout-out and Thanks to my friend BEAN!! for the awesome title to my blog!! You're the bestest Chica!!
